Me, joking around about not bringing on lights for the pianist: "She'll have plenty of real light, just no fake light. Uh."
The sound designer: "What?"
Me: "It's all real light. None of it is fake. I mean she'll have plenty of natural light, just no...stage light."
SD: "Right. No artificial light."
Me: "Right! Artificial light. Manmade. Except not like fire."
A confused pause.
Me: "Well, like fire, yeah. Only...not."
Another pause.
Me: "My metaphors always get away from me."
SD: "No, I understood you. Stage lights, they're like fire, only not at all like fire."

I am so awkward omg.

But anyway. job stuff yo )

OKAY NON-WORK-RELATED STUFF FOLLOWS 'cause I left work early today and 'cause I've been kind of a shitty LJ friend recently.

This is going to be my only comment on the current warnings debate (hopefully) 'cause I've been reading the metafandom posts and getting pissed off by both sides:

the warnings debate! )

Okay, ana meme to close this post on a slightly lighter note:

3. Barbara Wright (Doctor Who)
4. Martha Jones (Doctor Who)

SO.

To-do list for work tomorrow:
-Figure out how to cable the third electric
-Patch everything
-Inventory gel supply so I can order color

THAT IS A VERY SHORT LIST.

Today we got the third electric in the air again (with the most ridiculously ghetto counterweight system omg), cabled the sidepipes, replaced dead lamps, and got everything focused. Well, everything that can be focused at this point, without a certain number of gobos and also without scenery. BUT IT'S BASICALLY DONE EVEN IF I STAYED LIKE FOUR AND A HALF HOURS LATE TO GET IT DONE. OMG. FASTEST FOCUS EVER. LESS THAN A DAY.

And if I get those three things done tomorrow and get my color and template orders in maybe I can like stop moving for ten minutes and actually have a chance to, like...breathe.

I LOVE MY JOB RIGHT NOW.

I'M SO WIRED RIGHT NOW YOU GUYS.

Unrelated: has anyone seen the movie Piñata: Survival Island? Because I had it described to me last night and it sounds like it might just be the best movie ever. You guys. It's a horror movie about a possessed piñata. A possessed piñata. You guys.

Unrelated: I have the two most recent episodes of Kings in my possession! Which I will watch! When I have more than twenty minutes to myself in a row!

[info]smallfandomfest is open for claiming and writing and posting. Go, claim, write, post. I am contemplating which prompt I think I can write. May wind up claiming one of my own. Again.

I have very little to say right now and that's sad. :/

LJ's server going down makes me NOT HAPPY. DISTINCTLY NOT HAPPY.

Blah.

Anyway...on a brighter note...the ARD:U boys got the rest of The Reaction uploaded to their site! Very excited. I love them so much, I miss them during the hiatus. They win at everything. SO MUCH LOVE YOU GUYS. SO MUCH. (The link for part 3 is wrong, but manually changing it will get you the right track.) It's SO WEIRD hearing a girl contribute. Weird, but awesome.

Um. I don't think I've given my opinions on Glee here yet? But to sum up, I enjoyed the preview/pilot. It has problems, which I hope will get fixed in the series proper. I watched the leaked version, not the aired version, and I've heard mixed reviews from people who've watched both -- some say the leaked version flows better and provides more important information, some say the aired version cuts out the denser or less important parts. Not having seen both, I don't know, but yeah, enjoyed it. I am preemptively loving Tina and Kurt best. We'll see how that works out.

There is the slight problem that I already had a 'glee' tag for things that have nothing to do with the show of that name. ;D

Unrelated: I think my research addiction is getting a bit out of hand. I spent a good chunk of today researching video game consoles and console wars for the BTIS verse. The only problem with that? Nothing that requires that research will come up until way later in the timeline than I am. (If you would like to contribute opinions, have at. I know next to nothing about video game consoles, even after researching, which is a problem when two key characters are diehard gamers. I win at attempting to write stuff I have no background for.)

In slightly less irrelevant news, AND DOWN THE HATCH WE GO
AKA THE LOST CRACK!/RARE!SHIP FIC MEME
is AWESOME PERSONIFIED. LOST is a show that should have way more crack!shipping and rare!shipping than it does.

I'm trying to write a Michael/Shannon AU ficlet for it. I don't know if it'll work out, but we'll see.

Yesterday was Blog Like It Isn't You Day, and as you may have noticed, I was blogging as Tasha. She's a minor OC for one of my original verses; it's fun to write as Tasha, she's so non-angsty. Unless someone mentions the name Devlin. Generally very upbeat and cheerful and bright-side. Like I said, fun. I should've apped her to the Rift instead of Jack.

Have been writing. Or trying to write. It goes erratically. I've got 1,854 words now though! Although I still have to go back and replace the anachronistic Doctor Who conversation with something...less anachronistic. But Michael's finally showed up, and since the whole point of this writing exercise is to introduce him to the plot, that's a good thing.

In related news, have I mentioned I love [info]little_details? Because I DO. I don't use them very often but when I need them, they're SO AWESOME. Even if I inadvertently sparked an argument about whether my question was appropriate for the comm at all. Oops. Anyway, yes, [info]little_details wins at the Internet.

The Glee pilot leaked and I finally got my hands on it, so I think I'm gonna watch that today. Still have not watched the PD finale. It'll happen eventually.

I can't get the miniicons to work right, though. :/ They keep getting cut off, no matter what I do to try and fix the problem. Any one have any advice? Fixed! TY, [info]ageless_aislynn! ♥

Reposting from [info]wemblee, who is awesome and the reason I saw this to begin with. Using her words, 'cause they're better than mine would be.

Where a bunch of chromatic sf fans say, "We're here. We've been here. For generations." Nineteen pages of comments so far, of people saying, "I'm here." Many talking about how their parents, and their parents' parents, introduced them to nerdy fun.

Dear Faily White SF Authors: If you're not seeing fans of color at the cons you go to, it's not because there are hardly any FOC. It might, instead, just have something to do with... the cons you go to. Just a thought.

If you're an sf fan of color and you feel like adding your name, the post is here.

Fellow white fans, if you'd like to voice your support, please don't comment in the post itself, since that's not what the post is for. But I doubt anyone would mind you boosting the signal by linking it in your journal.

Spent a good chunk of the day lying on the couch cringing from headache pain. Bah. Finally my mom came home with Excedrin and I took it (and if you know anything of my aversion to medication you should realize how much pain I was in) and eventually the headache broke up and I feel better now.

As I mentioned on Twitter, the kid brother is home for the summer now. He spent most of today complaining about not having a job, and then complaining about the TV remote not working. (And then complaining about BOTH AT ONCE.) I am sad to no longer have the house to myself all day during the week.

I may have figured out an answer to the Conor/Tess subplot conundrum. Now I just have to figure out how Conor comes to own a restaurant.

The Tony reactions at [info]broadwaysecrets this week are hilarious, OMG. But I'd totally kill to see Hunter, Jeff, Susan, and Heidi host the awards, ngl, that would be awesome.

Dollhouse season finale starts momentarily!

LOST 5x14 The Variable: wherein everything goes downhill )

Weirdly, I have difficulty remembering that Charlie is younger than Aaron. There's no reason for this. Aaron's been around as a character longer, we've seen him being older than Charlie, we've seen them both being born, they drop ages often enough. There's no reason for this mental confusion, but I do have to keep stopping and reminding myself that, oh yes, Aaron's older than Charlie. IDK.

We can has LOST tiems agin nao?
