Ó mo Dhia! Tá an tua i mo cheann!
Yesterday was Blog Like It Isn't You Day, and as you may have noticed, I was blogging as Tasha. She's a minor OC for one of my original verses; it's fun to write as Tasha, she's so non-angsty. Unless someone mentions the name Devlin. Generally very upbeat and cheerful and bright-side. Like I said, fun. I should've apped her to the Rift instead of Jack.

Have been writing. Or trying to write. It goes erratically. I've got 1,854 words now though! Although I still have to go back and replace the anachronistic Doctor Who conversation with something...less anachronistic. But Michael's finally showed up, and since the whole point of this writing exercise is to introduce him to the plot, that's a good thing.

In related news, have I mentioned I love [info]little_details? Because I DO. I don't use them very often but when I need them, they're SO AWESOME. Even if I inadvertently sparked an argument about whether my question was appropriate for the comm at all. Oops. Anyway, yes, [info]little_details wins at the Internet.

The Glee pilot leaked and I finally got my hands on it, so I think I'm gonna watch that today. Still have not watched the PD finale. It'll happen eventually.

Pushing Daisies 2x12 Water and Power, or: the thin line between makeout and stakeout )

I DON'T WANT THIS SHOW TO BE OVER. There's so many loose ends left dangling and only one episode left to wrap them up in. :/ Comic books aren't the same!

Tonight there is LOST, tomorrow I have an eye appointment because my glasses are ridiculously old and need to be replaced. ...I miss Pushing Daisies already and it's not even officially over yet. :(

Watched Pushing Daisies 2x11 "Window Dressed To Kill" via those means that nonfannish people tend to call "illegal", by which I mean on YouTube and with Turkish subtitles. Oh, man, I missed this show so much.

word of the episode: adorable )

I MISSED THEM ALL SO MUCH. I missed Olive and Ned and Chuck and Emerson and Lily and Vivian and the Narrator and the random guest characters and the random crimes with complicated explanations and dead bodies and the way you can use "adorable" to describe a show that deals with such dark themes.

How did they cancel this show. How. HOW.

So. brief thoughts on Pushing Daisies 2x09 The Legend of Merle McQuoddy )

Fandom Wank is featuring wank about a recent xkcd strip. By which I mean they are mostly featuring complaints from people who don't understand the difference between nice guys and Nice GuysTM. Or who think Randall Munroe is somehow advocating the behavior of Nice GuysTM. Or who think Randall Munroe doubting the existence of genuine nice guys and relationships that grow out of friendships naturally. Or who, for some reason, think Randall Munroe is a Nice GuyTM himself. *flail*

From...everybody, pretty much:

Put your MP3 player/playlist on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.

When You Were Young

Someday I'm gonna be famous
If you live around here
Break of day, the dawn is here
My eyes are fully open to my awful situation

I can't feel nothin' at all
Hey, Stephen, I know looks can be deceivin'
In passing glances
Whenever I see someone less fortunate than I

Each night you show up about a quarter to two
This step is one again our first
I solve my problems and I see the light
Hey ho, let's go

She's not a girl who misses much
A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
How glad the many millions of Annabelles and Lillians
Let me set you straight

How the world can change
Little shop
Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak
They came from near, they came from far

Last night I dreamt that I was playing Elphaba on Broadway. Kendra Kassebaum was G(a)linda and I don't remember much more than that except that even in the dream I was like "WTF this is weird I'M NOT AN ACTOR I'M A TECH AND I CAN'T SING."

So! Happy Halloween, etc. Nanowrimo (and miniNaNo!) starts tomorrow. The year is almost over. It's very...weird. Flocked post about semi-related stuff to follow, I just had to split them up 'cause this really doesn't need to be flocked.

I did my rehire interview today. I was incredibly awkward -- I really don't interview well -- and they said they'd let me know in January or February if they decided they want me back next season.

Regardless I need to find some kind of job to get me through to at least March. Possibly later if I don't get rehired.

Park closes on Sunday, and then I have two weeks of strike, and November 9 is my last day, and then I'm unemployed again. :/ Luckily I am not actually as bad at saving money as I tend to think I am, so my bank account is in okay shape regardless of my soon-to-be-joblessness.

The ratings don't look good, though. I can't afford to lose this show, guys. I don't know what I'd do without it. I may be exaggerating a little. But I really don't want it to get canceled.

From [info]fandom_memes:

List ten quotes from ten of your OTPs. Your flist's job is to guess which of your OTPs said the quotes and from what movie/television show/book/etc. they are from.

Most of these are high on the "obvious" list.

1. "People don't seem to look me in the eye here. I think I scare them."..."You don't scare me." LOST, Charlie/Claire, [info]oc_pixie

2. "Then I would love you in any way I could. And if we could not touch, then I would draw strength from your beauty. And if I went blind, then I would fill my soul with the sound of your voice and the contents of your thoughts until the last spark of my love for you lit the shabby darkness of my dying mind." Pushing Daisies, Olive/Alfredo, [info]crickets

3. "What's the Czech for 'Do you love him'?"

4. "It's not a great picture. In real life you look better." "In real life." Animorphs, Rachel/Tobias, [info]atrypical

5. "I think I like the other world better." "How is it you're the only one who remembers?" "Shh. Just enjoy the music." Zanna Don't!, Zanna/Tank, [info]allfireburns

6. "Be honest, you came all this way to see me." "Still struggling to conquer your shyness?" Torchwood, Martha/Jack, [info]allfireburns

7. "All we really need to survive is one person who truly loves you, and you have her." LOST, Desmond/Penny, [info]crickets

8. "Sir? I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off." "Work, work, work..." Firefly, Wash/Zoe, [info]crickets

9. "I've been hearing violins all night." "Anything to do with me? Are we a thing?" "Darling, we're everything!" RENT, Angel/Collins, [info]oc_pixie

10. "...This relationship is going to be tricky." "There's still time to leave and find a non-crazy girl." "Not even slightly interested." xkcd, Hat Guy/Crazy Girl, [info]melengro

And:

Six ships you're into right now
1. Desmond/Penny (LOST)

3. Olive/Alfredo (Pushing Daisies)
4. Billy/Penny (Dr. Horrible)

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than twenty icons, post them all. If you have between twenty and fifty icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. Most awesome-tastic thing heard in a while: The Pogues covering "Do You Believe In Magic?" *laughs*

Close second: The radio-friendly version of "Boys From The County Hell", mainly because the lyrics stop making sense when you replace all the profanity. "We got him out the back and we beat him 'til he bawled"? Really?

Ten Things I Love

1. [info]nikiness...well, duh. Obviously. She's my nonsexual life partner and bestest friend ever!
2. Shane MacGowan. Specifically, Shane MacGowan's music. It just makes me happy, even when it's angry- or sad-making songs.
3. My cat, Thomas, who spent today apparently thinking that the best way to cure my vague illness was to lie on my chest with his head buried in my eye socket. Uncomfortable? Yes. Ridiculously cute and makes me love him even more? Yes.
4. New books!
5. Broadway and Off-Broadway and West End musicals. Yes, all of them. Yes, even that one.
6. Chess, which is technically a West End musical, a Broadway musical, and an Off-Broadway musical, but whatever, it deserves its own notation just for the sheer amount of glee it instills in me.
7. Fandom in general, even when it pisses me off by being stupid.
8. Being able to write. Which, I can't seem to right now, but when I can, it makes me so incredibly happy.
9. Opening night.
10. Clever writing in television/movies -- Pushing Daisies is winning on this score right now, but I can point to almost all my TV/movie fandoms for examples.

...in other news, I'm dying to see Cloverfield. J.J. Abrams + Michael Stahl-David + monster flick = Chica's idea of an awesome movie. And pretty much my entire friendslist is squeeing about it right now. So, yeah, I gotta get to a movie theatre and see this.
