Pushing Daisies 2x12 Water and Power, or: the thin line between makeout and stakeout )

I DON'T WANT THIS SHOW TO BE OVER. There's so many loose ends left dangling and only one episode left to wrap them up in. :/ Comic books aren't the same!

Tonight there is LOST, tomorrow I have an eye appointment because my glasses are ridiculously old and need to be replaced. ...I miss Pushing Daisies already and it's not even officially over yet. :(

Planet of the Dead, OMFGYAY )

So I think I need to rewatch to see if it holds up once the shiny-new-glee is gone, and I have a sneaking suspicion there are probably plot holes and other irritants, but right now I am riding high on squee and glee and I LOVE MY SHOW GUYS.

I miss Massachusetts already.

The concert review is going to go up shortly, and I'm going to take some time replying to comments and going back through my flist and things like that. I might miss stuff so if there's something that happened this weekend that you think I should know about, drop a comment or a link or whatnot.

I missed you!

The Unusuals looks like it might be interesting. More importantly it has Harold Perrineau in what appears to be a major role? Why did no one tell me about this sooner?

In somewhat related news, watching the rerun of last week's episode has reminded me of my season-one desire that Kate's crime would turn out to be ecoterrorism. Clearly that didn't pan out, but wouldn't it have been awesome?

Now on to the good stuff: last night's Torchwood episodes! And tons of capslock abuse!

MISS MARTHA JONES!

I finally managed to watch both episodes, and now my Martha glee threatens to make me forget everything I wanted to say about them, but I'll try, k?

I feel there are things I probably forgot to say, so feel free to remind me in the comments if you like. But MARTHA! ♥ SQUEE WITH ME! ♥ MARTHA JONES!

...also I now have two Martha tags because apparently I can never have too many. Despite the fact that I don't think I tag for any other individual character. *blink* ...I should start tagging for Babs, just to be fair, because Babs is also MORE AWESOME THAN YOU. *tags*

Look! Look! I has tick tick...BOOM! icons! Yay! [info]court_jesster clearly wins at life. Or at the Internet. Or at off-Broadway fandom. Whatever.

From now until I get bored of this icon and replace it with something else, this one's going to be my "becoming an adult sucks" icon. Trufax. I'll probably also randomly use it for other things, too, but you know.

I got to spend Saturday with my Niki babe! And her boy! And a friend of theirs! And it was so awesome. I miss her so much when I'm not with her...we had pizza and watched RENT clips and goofed off and smuggled candy into "Juno" which was very good, for the record. And we talked about wedding stuff and looked at pictures and just had a really awesome time. Needs to happen again soon, pls.

FINALLY!

spoilers for LOST 4x01 The Beginning of the End )

I MISSED MY SHOW SO MUCH. *hugs it tightly* I can't believe we only get seven more episodes this season. :( But it's BACK and as AWESOME as EVER and I'm HAPPY and hopefully my *coughspoilercough* guy will be back soon so I can stop calling him that for y'all on my flist who want to stay unspoiled.

Also, I watched Eli Stone and liked it, I think, although I need a few more episodes to decide. Eli reminded me of Nick George a little bit. And the whole premise is very Joan of Arcadia, isn't it, which isn't a criticism because I liked JoA the season that I watched. And Joan didn't have the lavish musical numbers that ES is promising. Anyway I'm not fannishly sold yet but I'll be watching again next week.

spoilers for Torchwood 2x02 Sleeper )

So Torchwood continues its second-season trend of Not Being Complete Rubbish, which is nice. Wait, can we call it a trend after only two episodes? Anyway characters are being consistently characterized and becoming better rounded, "tell" and "show" are matching up a little better, people are getting screentime, Torchwood isn't getting into messes completely out of their own incompetence...I like this trend. If a trend it is.

YAY! The Joyce/Yeats essay is done! Finished! It's five pages of BS and a really awful conclusion, because really what I had to say could be said in maybe three pages but I had to stretch it out, but anyway it's done and I can stop thinking about it!

That was way too many exclamation points!

OKAY. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to get gifties uploaded for those of you who are awaiting gifties. Today I be selfish; I know when I posted my wishlist a handful of people asked for specific fic requests, so under the cut find a ridiculously long list of prompts for the fandoms/pairings/whatevers I have been craving most recently.

some of these I don't think anyone on my flist writes, but oh well! )

I'm not actually expecting anything (although [info]kawaiispinel already wrote me TOTALLY AWESOME Olive/Alfredo fic of the UTTERLY PERFECT kind), but just so it's out there, y'know?

...yeah, I'm gonna shut up and go to bed now.

Things To Do To Piss Off Your Tech Crew:

- Flagrant misuse of microphones. This includes: standing two feet away from the mic, practically whispering, and then getting annoyed when the sound crew tells you, no, they can't make the mic any hotter; coughing or clearing your throat into the mic; covering the mic with your hand; noticing that the mic is far too short/tall for you to use comfortably, and rather than adjusting the height for your own use, talking above and/or below the microphone and expecting the sound tech to compensate for you; not using a microphone at all and then sending someone up to ask the sound tech why you couldn't be heard easily.
- Lining up for your entrance and then waiting half an hour for incomprehensible reasons while the entire crew goes crazy because they've already held the house way too long and really want to get things finished with on something approaching schedule.
- Leaving your things around the stage after a show, wandering off while the crew starts striking, and then bitching when you discover that the crew moved your things so that they could finish their job.
- Loitering in the hallways to talk to your friends/family/coworkers, thus blocking the crew from easily moving things off the stage and into storage.
- Apologizing for all of the above while the crew is still striking, and doing it by standing in the middle of the stage, blocking the crew from quick or easy movement.

Bleh.

On the other hand, it's SNOWING! It started while we were in the midst of strike -- or maybe it started during the concert, who knows -- and is still snowing now and I love it so, so much. Is not a hardcore snowfall, just a nice light drift, and...Ashley and Melissa and I sang "Let It Snow!" at the top of our lungs on the walk back from the FAC, and got all covered in flakes, and were just generally gleeful, ys.

Things what make Chica happy:

-WGA support wristbands. Am wearing one now. Have donated one to my roommate; still have eight left, so if you want one, let me know.

-Schadenfreude coming up in my Modern Brit. Writers class. All complaints I have ever had about that class are now withdrawn.

-Transportation finally e-mailing me back to let me know that yes they can give me a ride to and from the Logan Express for my Thanksgiving flights.

-Getting accepted to Firefox News as their new Writers' Strike Blog Roundup Reporter. Basically what this means is that I'll be putting together link roundups like I've been doing here, on a daily basis, for FN. And getting paid for it. Not much, admittedly, but every few pennies help, ys?

-Dracula's v. nice opening night audience last night. They applauded and laughed and things! It made me smile! Also there were no tech flubs!

-[info]assiduous1 coming to Regis this weekend to hang out with me and roommate!Amanda! *cheers up*

And the number one thing what makes Chica happy:

-knowing I will be seeing my Niki babe v. v. v. soon!!! I luff joo, babe!

I found out why Health Services is hassling me. *flail* Because my Hepatitis B vaccine or whatever isn't up to date? Um, hi, this was supposed to have been worked out over the summer. They sent me a letter that said, "No problem, you just can't ever use Health Services" and I was like OK I never do anyway because I have an inherent distrust of doctors. So I'm gonna call them tomorrow and be bitchy right back at them. If they insist, yeah, okay, I'll spend the ten dollars and get the damn shot but this shouldn't be an issue at all.

Anyway!

I didn't get tagged for this meme but like a million people on my flist tagged "whoever wants to", so here goes:

The rules are easy, just post 6 things that recently made you happy! Then tag 6 people and force them to post this meme on their LJs. Because it is good. Everyone needs a little happiness once in awhile.

1. Raul Esparza on Pushing Daisies
2. The twins making up on Dirty Sexy Money
3. Passing my Brit Writers midterm
4. Introducing my roommate to the wonder that is Rent. Next up: Wicked. And then maybe Zanna, Don't!
5. The language construction kit
6. Having $294 in my bank account despite a depressingly small paycheck this week

I tag whoever needs cheering up right now! :)

And another meme, this one from [info]fandom_memes:

Directions: Post 10 favorite quotes from any of your fandoms. Your flist will then try and guess which show the quotes are from...extra bonus brownie points if they can also guess the episode or the character who said it.

1. I had this dream once. I'm driving a bus, and my teeth start falling out. My mum is in the back, eating biscuits. Everything smells of bacon. It's weird. - Lost, Charlie, guessed by [info]kawaiispinel

2. Daddy always said, "Never mess with time travel". - Andromeda, Beka, guessed by [info]naturalcyber

3. We're just animals howling in the night, cause it's better than the silence. - Torchwood, Suzi, guessed by [info]snarkaddict

4. Well if you're determined to jump when they tell you, then maybe it's best that you do it alone! Watch TV, read the papers, have the miserable time of your life...you could even call my wife! - Chess, Anatoly, guessed by [info]allfireburns

5. We're always in trouble! Isn't this extraordinary - it follows us everywhere!

6. I answer the thrice and done. Bite. Me. - Dresden Files, Harry, guessed by [info]kawaiispinel

7. That's why time travel is not only possible, but may have already happened.

8. I'm not God, but if I was, I'd be an angry God. - Pushing Daisies, Emerson, guessed by [info]allfireburns

9. Why is everyone using sarcasm on me today? - The Black Donnellys, Kevin, guessed by [info]snarkaddict

10. This is, this is magnificent, and I don't often say that because, well, because I'm me. - Doctor Who, Tenth Doctor, guessed by [info]snarkaddict

...how on Earth is it possible to make a film version of Little Women that just makes Every Single mixed-sex relationship seem impossibly sketchy?

Except for Jo/Bhaer. That gets a pass. Because Bhaer managed to be cute, while EVERY SINGLE OTHER MALE in the cast was intensely creepy.

(I am, for the record, referring to the '33 film with Katherine Hepburn. SO SKEEZY.)
